Persepolis had set its sights on signing the 32-year-old Tunisian player three years ago but he joined the Qatari club Al-Duhail instead.
Sassi currently plays in Al-Gharafa and has scored three goals in 14 matches for the team.
Qatari media reports suggest that the Tunisian international player is a target for Iranian team Persepolis and Tractor.
Sassi has been a member of the Tunisia national football team since 2013.
